We all know it’s easy to get caught up in the hoopla of the holiday season — but for Robby Browne, Chris Kann and David Tufts, it’s all about underprivileged children and LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) seniors.
The 2011 “Toys Party” — held at again at Pier Sixty for its ninth consecutive year this past Friday — attracted nearly 2300 guests for what some would consider to be one of the biggest New York City events for the gay community after the Pride Festival.
The annual event began 26 years ago in Browne’s apartment. It has since morphed into the holiday event of the season complete with cocktails, DJs and A-listers. Guests over the years have included everyone from Bravo’s Andy Cohen to Mayor Bloomberg.
The successful gift drive managed to bring thousands of toys which will be donated to several local charities including Gods Love we Deliver, The Iris House, Brooklyn ACE Head Start, Grace Baptist Church and SAGE.
